Overview and Location
The Botanical Garden is located in the southeastern part of Tashkent and covers an area of 65 hectares. It serves as a separate ecosystem and a scientific hub for plant research. As the largest and most unique botanical collection in Uzbekistan, it holds a rich gene pool of native and exotic plants.
Plant Collections and Structure
The garden includes:
- 43 hectares of arboretum organized by global flora zones (based on Engler's taxonomy)
- 5 hectares of ornamental nurseries used for urban landscaping
- 1 hectare dedicated to tropical and subtropical species in greenhouses
- 16 hectares of protected natural tree zones
Its living plant collection includes rare species, medicinal plants, and ornamental varieties, creating an educational and ecological space for visitors of all ages.
Greenhouse and Research Facilities
The Botanical Garden features a 1,200 m² Foundation Greenhouse that retains lush greenery throughout the year. This area showcases a wide range of tropical and subtropical plants and is used for both scientific study and public education.
The entire garden is divided into six large blocks, with more than 10 km of walkways connecting different zones, including laboratories and experimental sections.
