Charvak Reservoir is one of the most scenic getaways near Tashkent. Surrounded by the majestic Chatkal Mountains, this man-made lake attracts both tourists and locals looking to relax, enjoy water sports, or explore the natural landscape just 1.5 hours from the city.

The reservoir was formed in the early 1970s after the construction of the Charvak Dam on the Angren River. Its primary purpose was irrigation, flood control, and hydroelectric power. Over time, Charvak developed into one of Uzbekistan’s most popular leisure destinations.
Charvak’s deep blue waters and mountain backdrop create a spectacular setting. In spring and summer, the area comes alive with wildflowers, clear skies, and fresh mountain air, ideal for both photographers and nature lovers.
There are several resorts and guesthouses with lake views, including spa hotels and mountain chalets. Many provide traditional Uzbek meals, modern amenities, and even private beach areas for guests.
Charvak is known for its open-air cafes and restaurants serving plov, kebabs, shashlik, and local trout grilled fresh. Most eateries are located near the waterfront and offer scenic dining experiences.
The reservoir is about 80 km northeast of Tashkent and is accessible by car or taxi in around 1.5–2 hours. The road offers beautiful views of the Ugam-Chatkal National Park and surrounding villages.
Plan your visit between April and September for the best weather. Summer is ideal for swimming and boating, while spring and early autumn are great for hiking and quieter stays.
